The industry is evolving quickly and incentives have been a big part of the change. We know they are hard to sort out and keep track of so we wanted to break each of them down in an easy to read way so that you know the advantages of buying a horse with each incentive.

Let’s start with NAERIC and the LHMG:

Naeric is an association of equine ranchers promoting their breeding programs. As light horse producers a part of this organization we put on two events, the Naeric Barrels of Cash and the Naeric Ropin for Cash.

Barrels of Cash is for 5 year old horses that were raised by a Naeric rancher and went through the Naeric Barrels of Cash sale. These horses are eligible to run at the futurity race held by Naeric for a large prize pot. These horses can then compete the following years at the Stake race which takes place after the futurity race.

The Ropin for Cash is a cash sidepot at the Manitoba Rope Horse Futurity. Any enrolledfour year old horse raised by a Naeric producer is eligible to compete for this money in the head and/or heel side and breakaway.

The LHMG is a select group of ranchers who have come together to create incentives to help promote their breeding programs. If you own a horse bred by one of these breeders you are eligible for the cash side pot at the Manitoba Rope Horse Futurity on the head and/or heel side and breakaway.
